In 2003, my uncle Krish Shetty opened Yummy Point Bakery in Danville, Illinois. Krish is a trained pastry chef who works his magic with cakes, cupcakes, and pastries. After successfully running the bakery for 16 years, my uncle has decided to venture into the world of ecommerce and online ordering. He passed on these skills to his younger brother Gopal, his own children, nephews and nieces at an early age. The Shetty's use chocolate from Switzerland and Belgium, Vanilla from Africa, and Sugar from South America. PURPOSE OF DEVELOPMENT AND FUTURE GOALS The purpose of this website is to allow customers to browse options for cake flavors, themes, decorations, and price for custom cakes or ready to buy cakes. This website will showcase the work and baked goods of Krish and provide future customers to order cakes and cupcakes online or contact Krish to order custom cakes or for any other questions. Customers can also compare my uncle's products with other bakeries. While developing this website, I took into consideration the purpose. The website intends to target men, women, and children of all ages since it is a family friendly website with local environment. It also hopes to target travelers who are passing through my uncle's town or make a visit to this town solely because of the bakery. When creating this website, it was essential to meet all the requirements and that the design was easy to understand. I used navigation as the main theme and this is why the menu bar appears on each page. Visistors can go back and forth between the pages for easy navigation. I used Sans-serif font, which is easy on the eyes. Earlier I started developing the website with using bright pastel colors but realized it was too distracting. I made this new website with more natural, non-distracting colors. I chose the color paletter to flow with the theme of the business, which is a bakery. There is a header that has the company logo in the middle. I used CSS to style the website. I inserted a lot of photos and slideshows along with two videos on how to bake. I used inline-block for my displays. I also used a footer that contains the bakery name, location, hours, and phone number. I started creating this website late so I didn't have much time. If I had more time, I would like to learn other advanced features to add into my current website such as "Chat With Us Now". I would have also worked on fine details and refining of the website. In the future, I would like to add live baking classes where one of the chef's from Yummy Point will teach. |
